I've been doing the "Truth in the Tinsel" advent devotional with my students this year and I have let them colour an ornament for each day's lesson. We have attached our ornaments to a long story ribbon and they will go home tomorrow so the students can share them with their families. Today was "gift" and tomorrow we will add the final one to our story.

Breakfast by candlelight put on by our school's Parent Association this morning. The perfect fuel for a morning field trip to Bethlehem Live living Nativity and an afternoon of Christmas concert practices.

Working in my footsie pajamas and trying desperately to finish this year's Grade 1 book before the Black Friday coupon code expires at midnight! This year we were inspired by Canadian author, Melanie Watt and her Scaredy Squirrel series.

More fuel for report card writing...but it worked.... I'm done! We'll see how many fixes I have when they are read over by the principal this weekend.

I was working on report cards at school until almost 10:00 PM. I was especially thankful for the parent who brought me a Tall Grass Prairie cinnamon bun after school. It was a perfect snack to eat while I was working.

I've written a Grade 1 book with my students every year and this year our inspiration comes from Melanie Watt's Scaredy Squirrel series. Here is the example I painted in front of my friends:

One of my favourite Grade 1 tools: a 'spaceman' rubber stamp to remind them to leave a space when they write.

Since the kids were gone, I spent some time at school getting ready for a new year. I was very productive writing the last of my letters, laminating, and getting my supplies in order. I was surprised by 2 of my coworkers with gifts for my classroom --owl duct tape and an owl folder.
